Year 8 Raise Money for Cancer Aid

As part of our yearly Lenten challenge at Bishop Hedley High School, all form classes must raise money through a sponsored event for a chosen charity.

Form class 8T decided any money they raised would go to Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil. They selected this charity as everyone in the class knew someone that had been affected by cancer and the sadness it can bring.

The class then decided on a sponsored event, with many suggestions being discussed including shaving form tutor Mr Evans’ hair off and putting him in a bath full of beans. Thankfully for him they decided to go on a sponsored walk as that was something that they could all take part in!

The class walked to Morlais Castle on PSE day and also asked the rest of year 8 to come along too! After what was a really enjoyable and tiring walk they counted their money and managed to raise £355 for Cancer Aid, who were proudly presented with a cheque in a special assembly.

The class are very thankful to Cancer Aid for offering the class the opportunity to visit their wonderful facilities in Dowlais and are look forward to visiting them and discussing future fund raising opportunities.
