Highest GCSE Examination Results in the History of Merthyr Tydfil!

Bishop Hedley Catholic High School would like to congratulate staff, pupils and parents on their hard work resulting in the highest GCSE grades recorded in the school’s history for the second year running, and indeed Merthyr Tydfil. A pass rate of 100% was achieved, with 64% of pupils attaining A* to C including English and Maths. 20% of pupils attained at least 5 grades at A*/ A, which is exceptional.

Amongst the highest achieving pupils were Daniel Blackford-Weir and Georgia Hewitt, who attained 16 A* / A grades between them.

Other high performing pupils include Clyde Leal, Thomas Passe, Abigail Willshee, Savannah Rivera, Caitlyn Dallison and Megan Howells, who also attained a range of A* / A grades. High performing departments include English Literature (81% pass rate) and Religious Studies (82% pass rate, of whom 43% of pupils attained either A* or A). The French, Welsh and Music departments achieved 100% A* to C grades with the majority of pupils attaining A* or A.

Headteacher Mrs Maureen Harris noted that the results were a reflection of the dedication of staff and the close collaboration and support of parents and hard work of pupils.
